Learning about the Law

Learning about the law with the Knoxville Bar Association

Laws provide us with the rules to live and work together in peace and safety. For most people, today’s law is a jumble of legal statutes and court rulings, and can lead to much frustration and many questions for anyone trying to understand it. Through the generosity of member volunteers, the Knoxville Bar Association has a number of programs to educate the public about the law.

Good citizenship requires that everyone have at least a basic knowledge of the law. This may seem an impossible task, because the law is constantly changing; the law today may not be the law tomorrow.

Handbooks to Help:

  • Domestic Violence Handbook
  • Legal Resource Guide
  • DIY Legal Forms
  • Identity Theft
  • When You Turn 18 (prepared by the Chattanooga Bar Association)
  • Intermediary Organizations

These handbooks, prepared by members of the Knoxville Bar Association, have been issued to inform and provide general information, not to advise. If you have a specific legal problem, you should not try to apply or interpret the law without the aid of an attorney who knows the facts because the facts may change the application of the law.
