Coping

The KBA leadership wants to support the well-being of our KBA members and their family, friends, and colleagues. When you hear, read, or watch news about COVID-19, you are likely to feel anxious and show signs of stress. Fear and anxiety about a disease can be overwhelming and cause strong emotions in adults and children. Coping with stress will make you, the people you care about, and your community stronger.

Mental Health Resources during COVID-19

Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program

The Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program (TLAP) is open and ready to assist attorneys who may be facing extra stress and pressure because of the coronavirus outbreak and related closures. TLAP is a free, confidential assistance program providing consultation, referral, intervention, and crisis counseling for lawyers, judges, bar applicants and law students who are struggling with substance abuse, stress, or emotional health issues. Judges, attorneys, and others in the legal profession may also refer colleagues to the program. Read more.

TLAP Resource Guide

TLAP can be reached by phone or email — Toll Free: (877) 424-8527 Local: (615) 741-3238; Buddy Stockwell III, Executive Director buddy.stockwell@tncourts.gov

KBA Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers Program

The Knoxville Bar Association's Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers Program is a confidential program to assist lawyers, law firms and families of lawyers suffering from alcoholism, addiction or other mental or emotional problems that impair the lawyers' ability to practice law.  All communication with the LCFL committee is confidential.

Get assistance in identifying, treating and recovering from these illnesses. It's a free, confidential membership service of the Knoxville Bar Association.

For more information, please contact KBA Members Jim Cornelius at 292-2515 or John Butler at 244-3925. Read more.
