Monthly Veterans' Legal Advice Clinic
The Veterans’ Legal Advice Clinic is a joint project of the Knoxville Barristers, the Young Lawyers Division of the Knoxville Bar Association (KBA), KBA/Barristers Access to Justice Committees, Legal Aid of East Tennessee, Knox County Public Defender’s Community Law Office, the University of Tennessee College of Law, Lincoln Memorial University- Duncan School of Law and the local VA office.
Because of the need to restrict group gatherings due to COVID-19, the February 10, 2021 clinic will be a PHONE-IN clinic.

Instructions for Clients Interested in the Legal Advice Clinic for Veterans:
PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Contact Legal Aid of East Tennessee at (865)637-0484 and request scheduling of a client intake on February 3, 4, 5, or 8. Attorneys will make calls to prescreened applicants on Wednesday, February 10 between noon and 2 p.m. You do NOT have to be Legal-Aid income eligible in order to participate.
This is an advice-only clinic. Attorneys can advise on matters related to:

Legal Aid of East Tennessee- Saturday Bar Clinics
Legal Aid of East Tennessee and UT College of Law host a monthly Saturday Bar Clinic on the First Saturday of the Month in Knox County and the Third Saturday of the Month in Blount County from 9 a.m.-12 Noon. Appointments are needed for a Saturday Bar Clinic. Please visit LAET website to fill out the online intake. Location and upcoming clinic dates are below for Knox and Blount Counties.

Tennessee Faith & Justice Alliance Legal Advice Clinic
The Tennessee Faith & Justice Alliance is a project of the Tennessee Access to Justice Commission. In the Knoxville area, the program is coordinated by the Knoxville Bar Association’s Access to Justice Committee, Legal Aid of East Tennessee, the University of Tennessee College of Law, and the generous lawyers, law students, and others volunteering their time and talent.

Debt Relief Legal Advice Clinic
Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET), in partnership with the Knoxville Bar Association (KBA), will host a Debt Relief Legal Advice Clinic for pre-screened individuals. The clinic is held at the Knox County Public Defender’s Community Law Office, and is the second of planned quarterly events to assist qualified debtors in the Knoxville area.

Instructions for Clients Interested in the Debt Relief Clinic:
THIS IS NOT A WALK-IN CLINIC. INDIVIDUALS MUST BE PRE-SCREENED, AND MUST CONTACT LAET’S KNOXVILLE OFFICE TO GO THROUGH CLIENT INTAKE.
Clients accepted for the clinic should arrive no later than 9:35 a.m. United States Bankruptcy Judge Suzanne H. Bauknight will begin the clinic with an overview about debt issues, the bankruptcy system, and reasons why someone may not need to file bankruptcy. Clients will then be paired with volunteer attorneys to discuss debt relief options. Those who qualify will receive a bankruptcy packet to be completed before the clinic. Clients will also need to bring their tax returns and pay stubs to the clinic.
