Summary

The CLE program "Successful Techniques for the Direct Examination of Experts in Civil Cases" was originally presented and recorded on February 26, 2021.

With so few cases going to trial these days, attorneys find it increasingly difficult to get actual courtroom experience. This program will help lawyers with limited litigation experience and those who want to sharpen their skills with some tips from some seasoned local trial attorneys. Learn the secrets of their success by demonstrating trial skills and techniques they’ve used and know to be the most effective way to improve the likelihood of success at trial. Our experienced presenters will discuss current COVID-19 restrictions, jury selection, direct and cross-examination, presentation of evidence, expert testimony, and opening and closing arguments. No matter how long you have practiced, come to this seminar to gain the advantage you need in the courtroom.

Our presenters will cover an actual direct examination presentation of orthopedic surgeon testimony in spinal injury case; the importance of laying an interesting foundation about the expert’s qualifications and practice; the use of demonstrative evidence to persuade the trier of fact about pre-accident and post-accident conditions; the importance of medical testimony about the permanency of the injury and the effect of the injury on activities of daily living; the effect of the aging process on permanent spinal injuries; the importance of testimony on the issue of future medical treatment and expenses; and the decision to ask questions expected on cross-examination

Presenters: Beecher A. Bartlett Jr., Kramer Rayson LLP and Dr. William E. Kennedy

(If you have any questions about the program please contact the speaker at bbartlett@kramer-rayson.com or wekennedymd@gmail.com.)
