Knoxville Bar Association
The CLE program "Setting the Record for Appeal" was originally presented and recorded on February 26, 2021.
With so few cases going to trial these days, attorneys find it increasingly difficult to get actual courtroom experience. This program will help lawyers with limited litigation experience and those who want to sharpen their skills with some tips from some seasoned local trial attorneys. Learn the secrets of their success by demonstrating trial skills and techniques they’ve used and know to be the most effective way to improve the likelihood of success at trial. Our experienced presenters will discuss current COVID-19 restrictions, jury selection, direct and cross-examination, presentation of evidence, expert testimony, and opening and closing arguments. No matter how long you have practiced, come to this seminar to gain the advantage you need in the courtroom.
Following a trial, appeals are often won or lost on the evidence preserved for the court of appeals to consider. During this session, Rachel will discuss important Rules of Evidence, rules of civil procedure, appellate rules and pertinent case law to help you with your next appeal.
Presenter: Rachel P. Hurt, Arnett, Draper and Hagood, LLP
