How do you help our members?
My primary responsibilities are broken into two areas. As membership coordinator, it is my responsibility to ensure that KBA Member data is as up-to-date and accurate as possible at all times. The KBA staff uses that member data in all aspects of our operations, so it is crucial for me to keep it current. I’m also in charge of recruiting new attorney and law student members, as well as dispersing and managing annual renewal of member dues. As the database administrator my responsibilities involve many things. I build reports to be used for various reasons such as formatting our annual attorneys’ directory, member and event analytics, marketing strategies, and much more! Given that we’re a small office, you’ll often see me lending a hand at CLE and social events. I’m also in charge of managing the KBA social media platforms whether it’s promoting events, highlighting member achievements or bringing light to the various resources the KBA has to offer attorneys and the public. Needless to say, we’re all quite busy here at the KBA.
What is a typical day for you?
It is rare for any two days to be the same, which to me is a great thing. My days really depend on what project(s) are currently a priority for the KBA. Typically, my days involve managing and formatting the data for these projects. Each day I also ensure that our social media schedule is achieved, I help maintain the KBA’s financial records, and plug away at any projects we have at the moment.
Tell us more about yourself.
The majority of my family lives in West Tennessee. While in college my father joined the U.S. Navy which led to a long career as a Naval Officer. For this reason, I grew up in a military family primarily in Southeast Georgia. Golf was a major part of my childhood. I started playing at the age of 4, and by the time I was 12 I had dropped all of the other sports and started playing golf competitively. I received a golf scholarship to attend Thomas University (small private school in South Georgia) where I played golf for three years. I eventually transferred to the University of Tennessee where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Communications - Journalism and Electronic Media. After graduating, I moved to Atlanta for two years. I moved back to Knoxville in 2014 and worked for two and a half years as a Quality Analyst at Accenture. I’ve been with the KBA since March of 2017!
