Over the past year, a subcommittee of the KBA Professionalism Committee has undertaken a review of the Guidelines for Professional Courtesy and Conduct (Guidelines) which were adopted by the Knoxville Bar Association in 2002. The subcommittee included attorneys from a broad range of specialties and experience levels, and they have recommended changes to the Guidelines that are both substantive and aesthetic. The revisions to the Guidelines reflect the expectations surrounding electronic forms of communication that have become prevalent since the guidelines were first adopted. The KBA is very grateful to the subcommittee for their time and contributions to the proposed revisions to the Guidelines and thanks the Professionalism Committee for their efforts to make the Guidelines more relevant and useful to KBA members. The Professionalism Committee has recommended that the KBA Board of Governors adopt the proposed revisions which may be found here. Members are asked to review the proposed revisions to the Guidelines and address any comments to KBA Executive Director Marsha Watson by October 5th. We would like to hear from members of all practice areas and years of experience.
