Paul Edward Dunn

Paul Edward Dunn passed away peacefully on July 21, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of West Hills Presbyterian Church. He was born on July 17, 1931 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Sterling Jerome Dunn and Zula Nickles Dunn. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret Grigsby and husband Han, mother and father-in-law Christopher C. Tipton and Ruth P. Tipton. Mr. Dunn was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter Laura Ellen Dunn (his Chickadee). He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Martha Tipton Dunn. Mr. and Mrs. Dunn would have been married sixty years on August 3, 2018. Mr. Dunn is also survived by his loving children: Alison Dunn Jackson (Howard), Philip Dunn (Laura), Betsy Dunn-Medley (David), Carolyn Dunn (Thomas); grandchildren, Emilee Bowles Jones (Eric), Nicholas Bowles (Britton), Tucker Bowles (Amy), Katie Dunn, Kelsey Dunn, Davis Edward Dunn, Mary Ellen Dunn, and Macie Dunn; and great grandchildren Carson Bowles and Aubree Eleanor Jones. He is also survived by a beloved nephew Dr. Eric J. Grigsby and his wife Dr. Mary Grigsby-Rocca and children. He was as proud combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served actively as a tank commander in the Korean War. He served with the 1st Marine Division and received various awards and citations including three Bronze Stars, which designated specific combat campaigns. He practiced law in Knoxville for over forty years. He began practicing with renowned criminal defense lawyer Ray H. Jenkins. He received his nickname Tiger from Mr. Jenkins, who said he was a Tiger in the courtroom. He remained with the firm Jenkins and Jenkins until 1995. He was the founding member of the firm Dunn, MacDonald and Coleman established in 1995 which is now Dunn, MacDonald & Reynolds, P.C.
