Harold B. Stone - In Memoriam

The Knoxville Bar Association and its members remember the friends of the association who may be gone, but not forgotten. We value their service to the community through their work toward justice and hope that this may serve as a tribute to them.

Harold B. Stone

Harold B. Stone passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013. He was born in Lebanon, Tennessee, on April 30, 1924, to the late Chester Lee and Estella Mai Stone. From secondary school, he joined the National Guard and was called to active duty in 1941. As a lieutenant before age 18, Harold became the youngest artillery officer in the United States Army. As a liaison pilot in Europe with the 3rd Armored Division, he earned the Purple Heart, Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, a Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, and American Defense Medal. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. degree in Business Administration, and practiced Public Accounting while earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1951. He established his law practice in 1952 and remained active in the firm of Stone & Hinds, P.C., until shortly before his death. He is in the listing of Cityview's Top Attorneys of 2013. Harold was an active member of Kiwanis Club International, Second Presbyterian Church, the Knoxville Racquet Club and a loyal supporter of the Knoxville Opera Company and Knoxville Symphony Orchestra.
