Jess D. Campbell - In Memoriam

The Knoxville Bar Association and its members remember the friends of the association who may be gone, but not forgotten. We value their service to the community through their work toward justice and hope that this may serve as a tribute to them.

Jess D. Campbell

Jess Douglas Campbell passed away on July 2, 2010.  Jess was born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee on March 12, 1944. He was a multi-sport high school athlete earning the title Mr. Lawrenceburg, an Eagle Scout, sold Bibles and dictionaries during college, and was active in the US Army at Ft. Jackson, S.C.  He earned his Associates Degree from Martin Methodist College in 1964 and graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Law in 1968. Jess was with the law firm of Campbell, Walsh and Brown, and practiced law for the past 41 years, concentrating in personal injury law.   He loved helping people and often made agreements with a smile and a hand shake.  Jess was a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Knoxville Bar Association, Tennessee Association for Justice, American Bar Association and past member, Board of Governors of Tennessee Bar Association. He served as president of many organizations, including Young Lawyers Conference, Tennessee Bar Association, Phi Alpha Delta and Fox Den Country Club. He was active in the Democratic Party, serving many committees including campaign manager for Bob Clement's gubernatorial race. Jess was preceded in death by his parents, Jess Willard Campbell and Roxie Williams Campbell Hardin. He is survived by his wife, Pamela R. Campbell; children, Melanie Campbell-Brown; Curry Leigh Campbell, Jess Coby Campbell; and brother, David C. Campbell. Jess is deeply missed by his family and many friends.
