Summary

The KBA CLE program "General Sessions Court Practice: Unwritten Rules and Clerk’s Office Ins & Outs" was originally presented and recorded on March 3, 2026.

This CLE program is part of the Barristers’ Unwritten Rules series and is designed to help attorneys navigate the practical realities of practicing in General Sessions Court. First half of the program, learn about the daily processes and services the Knox County General Sessions-Criminal Court Clerk’s Office provides to you, your support staff, and your clients. In the second half, experienced practitioners and judges will share unwritten norms, courtroom expectations, and real-world strategies that aren’t taught in law school—from interacting with judges and clerks to managing clients and dockets efficiently. Attendees will gain practical guidance to practice more confidently and effectively in the General Sessions Court.

Presented by: Amanda Branch, Supervisor/Deputy Clerk, Knox County General Sessions-Criminal Court Clerk's Office; Hon. Judson Kyle Davis, Knox County General Sessions Court, Division II; Michael R. Tabler Knox Co. Public Defender's Community Law Office

(If you have any questions about the program, please contact the speakers at amanda.branch@knoxcounty.org or mtabler@pdknox.org)
