Law Practice Today Webinar Series 

The CLE program "Advanced Legal Research " will be presented as a Webinar presentation on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 12 - 1 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time). The program is approved for 1 hour of general "distance learning" CLE credit. 

Having strong legal research skills is crucial for saving time and money for your clients. Whether you are an entry level associate or partner, legal research is a vital daily task and one that must be continually developed. This course will survey modern online legal research tools, strategies, and techniques. During the one-hour course, you will learn tips for saving time and retrieving strong results. The training will cover how to avoid common research mistakes and offer sophisticated research techniques to get the most relevant results. Decisis is used to demonstrate but these core principles apply to all varieties of online legal research. Decisis provides industry-leading tools to make legal research easier and more intuitive, and it is a free benefit to all Knoxville Bar Association members. This CLE program is an ADVANCED level training designed to take your legal research skills to the next level.

ZOOM INSTRUCTIONS

1.  You can join this meeting with almost any device. For mobile devices, find the Zoom Meetings on the App Store or Google Play Store and pre-install. For a desktop or laptop computer, the link to pre-install is: https://zoom.us/download. You can then leave the meeting and then re-join again at the appointed meeting time. Absent a computer or mobile device, you can just join with a telephone call (audio only), but the best meeting experience by far is to use a computer or iPad, so you can see others and what is being presented.

2.  For computer/mobile device connection: If you don’t already have the Meetings app installed, you will be prompted to do a quick installation when you click the meeting link. Once installed, you don’t need to “sign in” or “create an account”, you just need to join the meeting. Only the host of a meeting has to have an account. Once you join with your computer, you will be asked if you want to use the computer audio or dial in by telephone for your audio. You can use computer audio if you have a headset or are on a mobile device or laptop with camera/mic – webcams are encouraged; otherwise, dial in via telephone for your audio, following the on-screen instructions.

3. If you encounter any technical difficulties at all during the meeting, and it is persistent, sometimes it is best just to leave the meeting and then rejoin it. If you encounter any difficulties or have questions as a result of the test above, just contact KBA Office well before the meeting so that we can resolve.

Reservations canceled less than 48 hours before the program are subject to the penalty of the entire amount. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another individual.
