The KBA joined with the UT College of Law and the LMU Duncan School of Law on September 27th to sponsor a Minority Law Student Reception. The event was held at Carleo's in the Old City and 70+ members and law students participated. We were honored to have as our guest speaker City of Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero.

The Annual Supreme Court Dinner was held on September 5, 2012, and more than 500 members and guests were in attendance. Governor Bill Haslam was the featured speaker and Hon. Gary Wade was sworn in as Chief Justice of the Tennessee Supreme Court.

The Knoxville Barristers hosted a summer party on Friday, August 10 at The Sunsphere. Eighty young lawyers and their guests attended and had a wonderful time.
- Sports Law CLE

Seventy-five KBA members and their guests participated in the "Sports Law CLE" held on August 3 at Neyland Stadium. The event was the third in the Exploring East Tennessee CLE series planned by KBA President Bill Coley. The group enjoyed an interesting CLE featuring Judge Tim Irwin, Chad Speck and Brad Lampley and learned Vol football insights from Tim Priest during the reception.

As part of the Exploring East Tennessee CLE Series, the KBA sponsored a hike to Abrams Falls and a CLE on Professionalism on June 15. Fifty members and their guests participated.
- Wine Tasting 2012

The Knoxville Bar Association sponsored Cheers for Charity at the Knoxville Beverage Company on May 31, 2012. The event, which was sponsored by CapitalMark Bank & Trust, was attended by local attorneys and their guests. The silent auction was enthusiastically supported by many donors, including some of the finest restaurants, hotels and other benefactors and raised $3,711.00 for Legal Aid of East Tennessee. The Knoxville Bar Association Annual Law Day Luncheon and CLE program was held on Friday, May 4, 2012. The Law Day program recognized the local winner of the High School Mock Trial competition, the Announcement of Hon. Thomas G. Phillips as the winner of the prestigious Law & Liberty Award, and the commemoration of the Law Week activities by the Knoxville Barristers.

On April 20, 2012, more than 280 folks participated in the KBA Law Practice Today Expo. This year’s Expo included presentations from local and national speakers discussing what the future holds for the legal profession. There were 13 CLE sessions, 22 vendor sponsors and 22 local judges who joined us for the judicial roundtable lunch featuring Dave Hart, the Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics at the University of Tennessee.

The Knoxville Bar Association sponsored a one-hour CLE program entitled "Love Hurts", a three course meal at Chez Liberty and an evening at the Knoxville Opera Company's preformance of Romeo & Juliette on February 10.

The Knoxville Bar Association sponsored the Community Law School on March 29, 2012. Close to 300 people participated in the two public education programs. Also, the Lawyer Referral & Information Service participated in the Veteran's Rally on April 4, 2012. the goal of Rally Point was to connect veterans and their families with local resources.
