Will Kittrell and Sheila Needles, Co-Chairs of the Barristers Volunteer Breakfast Committee would like to thank all of the dedicated volunteers who serve breakfast at the Volunteer Ministry Center on the fourth Thursday of the month.

The Knoxville Bar Association Supreme Court Dinner was held on Wednesday, August 31 at the Knoxville Convention Center.  More than 360 KBA members and their guests gathered to honor the Tennessee Supreme Court and listen to remarks by Senator Lamar Alexander.  A special thanks to KBA member Ann Short for taking photographs at the event.

On Friday, August 26, the Knoxville Bar Association sponsored the first ever Seersucker Flashmob.  More than sixty folks participated in the event and we are grateful to everyone for their support.

The Barristers Mock Trial Committee would like to thank all the volunteers who helped make this year's District 10 & 13 High School Mock Trial Competition a success. The competition was held on February 12th and 19th and featured seven teams from Knox and Anderson County High Schools vying for the opportunity to advance to the state tournament. The final round, presided over by Knox County Criminal Court Judge, Bob McGee, pitted long time rivals, West High School versus Bearden High School, with West High School prevailing.

On April 27, 2011, the KBA Judicial Committee hosted a meeting of the state court judges to consider the TBA's proposed new Code of Judicial Conduct.  Learn more about the KBA Judicial Committee.  

The KBA Annual Law Day Luncheon was held on Friday, May 6.  Law Professor Judy Cornett was the featured speaker and KBA member David Eldridge was presented with the Law & Liberty Award.  Read more in the June DICTA.

On March 24 the Barristers hosted Operation Second Harvest which raised more than $1,000 for Second Harvest.  

On April 8, 2011, more than 250 folks participated in the KBA Law Practice Today Expo. This year’s Expo included presentations from local and national speakers discussing what the future holds for the legal profession. There were 13 CLE sessions, 30 vendor sponsors and 21 local judges who joined us for the judicial roundtable lunch featuring author Clay Travis.

The Hunger and Poverty Relief Committee held its second annual "Corn Hole Throwdown" tournament fundraiser on Friday, January 28, 2011 at Club 90 Proof in the Old City.  24 teams participated and over $1,500 was raised.

The KBA Professionalism Committee sponsored a fall hike to Hen Wallow Falls Trail on November 6, 2010.

The KBA Ethics Bowl CLE was held on December 3, 2010.  The competition was fierce this year with a family-feud format.  Brothers David and John Eldridge won the Ethics Bowl trophy.
