Event Description: On Friday, December 21, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. the KBA CLE Committee will present ”How to Be a Better Lawyer: Transforming Civility into Camaraderie". The program was originally presented live as a Lunch & Learn program on June 28, 2012. The video will be shown at the KBA office and a moderator will be present so the program has been approved for live CLE credit (instead of distance learning or online CLE credit which is limited to 8 hours per year). The program has been approved for 1 hour of dual CLE credit. Featuring: Hon. C. Clifford Shirley, U.S. District Court Please join the KBA Government & Public Service Lawyers Section for a CLE featuring Hon. Cliff Shirley, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Tennessee. Come to listen and join in on a talk about civility from a both a lawyer and judicial perspective and learn how to take civility to the next level – camaraderie. The talk will cover pragmatic and professional motivations to become “that kind of lawyer,” and will even include medical and physiological benefits to building good will and collaborative rapport. There will be a special discussion of how this transformation can apply to government and public service lawyers, who will come away with new insights of making such behavior not only logical and reasonable, but also desirable and “do-able.” Program Cost: A reservation is required in advance of the program - $ 5 dollar fee additional the day of the program.
