The program will be held at the Juvenile Court in the Main Court Room. This year’s Guardian ad Litem training is designed to give guardians insight into resources available and practical pointers on best practices. 1:00 – 1:15 p.m. Introduction from the Court Hon. Timothy E. Irwin, Knox County Juvenile Court 1:15 – 2:00 p.m. Best Practices Guide for Handling Juvenile Dependency & Neglect Cases Lisa A. White, Attorney at Law This session will cover: • Court Procedures & Preferences of Knox County Juvenile Court • Sample Petitions & Orders 2:00 – 2:15 p.m. Break 2:15 – 4:15 p.m. Addressing the Needs of Children from Birth through High School Jennifer S. Bjornstad, Attorney at Law Susan E. Crabtree, Deputy Law Director, Knox County Law Director’s Office Rebecca A. Franklin, Attorney at Law Sherry L. Mahar, Law Office of Sherry L. Mahar Learn about: • Assessments for infants • Medical Records • Community Resources • Accessing JIMS • Educational & Vocational Options • Coordinating with Schools The program has been approved for three hours of general CLE credit. Program Cost: KBA Members - $ 60 Non-KBA Members - $ 90 KBA Law Student Members - $ 25 Staff of KBA Members - $ 60 A reservation is required in advance of the program - $ 5 dollar additional fee the day of the program. You do not need to be a member of the Unmet Legal Needs of Children committee in order to attend the CLE program. |
