Learn how to comply and make sense of the recently-announced "Plan/Prevent/Protect" regulatory enforcement initiatives by the United States Department of Labor. 2:20-3:05 p.m. 3rd session Confidentiality Ethics for the Transactional Lawyer Paula Rene Hicks Schaefer, U.T. College of Law This session considers confidentiality ethics issues facingtransactional lawyers. We will explore maintaining confidentiality in the information age, communicating with business clients about their role in protecting confidentiality, and addressing inadvertent disclosure in non-litigation settings. Audience members will refer to Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct to addresshypothetical dilemmas in each of these areas. 3:05-3:20 Break 3:20-4:10 p.m. 4th session Managing Employee Leaves and Disabilities Leslie Beale, ES&H, Inc. Stephanie Daniel, Fifth Third Bank Effectively navigating the ever-changing world of employee leaves and disabilities can be a challenge, even for in-housecounsel. This program will offer a description of the current state of the law, including recent enforcement and interpretation under the ADAAA, as well as comprehensive discussion of the real world difficulties these laws can pose. 4:10-4:45 p.m. 5th session Intellectual Property and Political Campaigns Peter Brewer, Esq., Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, P.C. This year is a presidential election year. What better occasion to discuss intellectual property and political campaigns?Candidates and their campaigns frequently find themselvesbeing accused of infringing copyrights and even patents.
