Add to Outlook Calendar... Event Description: The KBA Environmental Law Section presents a seminar entitled ”Environmental Enforcement:Tips for the General Practitioner”. This 2-hour CLE is targeted for the attorney with a general civil or criminal practice, whose real estate or corporate client, or developer may become the subject of environmental enforcement. Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s (TDEC) regulators and counsel will walk you through the enforcement process, from beginning to end. A reception will follow the CLE, allowing participants to network and interact with the speakers and other participants. 3:00 -4:00 p.m. The panel will discuss how an inspection turns into enforcement, whether and when something becomes criminal, the different ways laws are broken (air, water, waste). Paul Schmierbach, Environmental Program Manager, TDEC Division of Water Pollution Control Dan Hawkins, Manager, TDEC Division of Remediation, Knoxville Field Office Jonathon Burr, Program Manager of the Mining Section, TDEC Division of Water Pollution Control 4:00 -5:00 p.m. This session will cover when and how TDEC’s Office of General Counsel gets involved. Max Fleischer, TDEC Environmental Legal Counsel The program has been approved for two hours of general CLE credit. Program Cost: KBA Members - $ 40 Non-KBA Members - $ 60 KBA Law Student Members - $10 Staff of KBA Members - $ 40 A reservation is required in advance of the program - $ 5 dollar fee additional the day of the program.
