Join the KBA
Membership has its advantages.
As a member of The Knoxville Bar Association, you will receive timely, practice-related information and will have access to networks and resources that can assist in enhancing your professional and personal growth.
Join today and reap the benefits of belonging to an association that has your needs in mind.
You do not have to be admitted to practice law in Tennessee to join, but you must be admitted in good standing in another state. New admittee applications cannot be processed until we receive verification of your admittance in Tennessee, which usually occurs in mid-July and mid-October. Complimentary membership for new admittees applies to the first two calendar years in which they are admitted in any state.
DUES: Rates for regular membership are based on the number of years an attorney has been licensed to practice. This is calculated using the first year he or she was licensed in ANY state. Please remit the full amount of dues owed with the membership application and include a copy of your license to practice law or a copy of your current Board of Professional Responsibility card. Allow 3-4 weeks for processing.
Members of the Knoxville Bar Association in good standing, including applicants pending approval, may make arrangements to make installment payments for their annual dues. The KBA Board of Governors has the authority to consider dues waivers for those members experiencing financial hardship, illness or other extraordinary circumstances. The dues waiver request should be in writing and should accompany the membership application or dues renewal. If you have questions, please contact Melanie Connatser, KBA Membership & Communications Coordinator at 865-522-6522.
Changes in dues pricing applies to 2013 KBA membership dues (approved by the KBA Board of Governors on April 18, 2012).
New Admitted Lawyers - No Charge: New lawyers who are licensed to practice during the first two calendar years in which they are admitted in ANY state.
Law Student Membership - No Charge: Any law student currently attending or enrolled in law school is eligible to join the KBA. The law student membership category also includes any person who has graduated from law school but has not yet become a member of any bar nor is admitted to practice law in any jurisdiction for a period of 2 years after date of graduation.
