In today's world -- where almost everything we do is affected by law, productive citizens need to be law-smart. Everyone needs to learn about their legal responsibilities and rights and to develop respect for law, others, and themselves ... all of which can come from law related education. The members of the Knoxville Bar Association have always been firmly committed to serving the needs of the community and since 1995 the KBA has served as a national leader in providing law related education programs for the public.
Check back with the KBA for our LawTalk program to be held in the Fall.
The news is filled with all kinds of economic woes, foreclosures, bad debts, businesses going under, whole industries needing bailouts. Seniors, in particular, are concerned. What do the country's tough financial times mean for them, for their fixed incomes, for their limited assets, for their savings and spiraling investments? The Community Law School material is presented to appeal to those who have already planned their estate and might anticipate some changes to those who have not even considered where to begin. Both the "Wills & Estate Planning for Everyone" session and the "Consumer Rights and Responsibilities: Protect Yourself and Your Assets" presentation are well received because of the excellent speakers and the high quality handout material.
Of the hundreds of people who have attended the KBA's law related education programs, there wasn't a single word about the economy, although everyone was affected by it. There were only words of gratitude for the KBA and the volunteer lawyers who provided much needed information in an easy-to-understand manner.
The LawTalk program will be held in the Fall. Please check back with us for more details.
