The Athletic Committee coordinates athletic and social activities as part of a joint effort with the Membership Service Committee. This Committee sponsors sporting events, such as the annual Barristers' Charity Golf Tournament.

The Communications & Public Relations Committee is responsible for raising public awareness regarding Barrister's activities.

The objective of the Committee on Diversity and Inclusion are to promote and advance the full and equal particpation of attorneys of all cultural and other diverse backgrounds in the Barristers' Division of the Knoxville Bar Association and in all sectors and at every level of the legal professional through research, education, fostering involvement and leadership development in the KBA and other professional activities, and to promote knowledge of and respect for the profession in communities that historically have been excluded from the practice of law.

The Habitat for Humanity Committee has been involved in scheduling Barrister volunteer work days in conjunction with Knoxville Habitat for Humanity. You need no experience to volunteer and any member of the KBA, including family and friends, are free to volunteer for any work day.

The Knoxville Barristers are lawyers who are members of the Knoxville Bar Association and who are under 36 years of age or who have been practicing law less than five years. Probably no other local bar association and group of young attorneys work harder or have a more diverse list of public service opportunities than those right here in Knoxville. While providing valuable and appreciated public service, these young lawyers have fun enjoying each other and enjoying serving others. Get involved in 2013! Volunteer for a Barristers' Committee!

The Hunger & Poverty Relief Committee works tirelessly on a multitude of year-round projects including the "Firms for Food" program with Second Harvest Food, delivering Meals-on-Wheels on Mondays and Fridays at lunch, and serving as interviewers in the Knox Area Rescue Ministries job skills training program. The Committee also organizes several special "drives" each year, including participation in the Coats for the Cold campaign, Professional Clothing Drives to benefit the Career Closet, Cell Phone Drive for victims of abuse, School Supplies Drive to benefit ChildHelp USA. The Committee also organizes an annual Canned Food Drive Competition and sponsors an Angel Tree each Holiday Season to benefit local homeless shelters. Last year, the Committee also organized its first Cornhole Tournament, which raised money to benefit the Wesley House Community Center.

The Law School Mentor Committee coordinates various programs for students at the University of Tennessee College of Law, including the Mock Interview Program. The Mock Interview Program assists law students in preparing for interviews for summer associate positions by providing them with an opportunity to engage in a "practice" interview conducted by a member of the Knoxville bar, following which each student receives feedback on his or her interview performance and resume.

The Law Week Committee assists the KBA Functions Committee in planning the Law Day Luncheon. The Law Week Committee coordinates all Law Week activities including the Essay contest for high school students, the Poster contest for elementary and middle school students, and presenting the video: "Junior Judges: Helping Kids Make Smart Choices." The purpose of the video is to increase each student's awareness of the legal system and how it can relate to seven real-life scenarios that students may encounter, as well as, permit students to judge what options they have in tough situations and encourage them to make smart choices. The committee also handles the nomination for the Law and Liberty Award.

The Long Range Planning & New Projects Committee evaluates opportunities for new projects for the Barristers to implement and promote in the community.

The Membership Services Committee coordinates various membership services for the Barristers including assisting in the planning of Barrister functions and social events. One of the larger responsibilities is welcoming new admittees to the bar.

The Mock Trial Committee coordinates the Knoxville area high school Mock Trial Competition, the local competition leading to the spring state competition. The Committee's activities included scheduling and providing all resources for the competition, arranging for the use of area court rooms, distributing model problem materials and obtaining attorney coaches, scorers and judges for all Mock Trial rounds.

The Professionalism Outreach Committee coordinates with other professional organizations to provide social and networking opportunities to young attorneys.

The School Outreach Committee develops and implements projects designed to educate area high schoolers regarding the justice system. This year the Committee will continue to work on the “When You Become 18” project.

The Volunteer Breakfast Committee relies upon the members of the Barristers and the Knoxville Bar Association to volunteer on the 4th Thursday of each month to provide, prepare and serve breakfast to the homeless at the Volunteer Ministry Center.
