The Publications Committee's objectives for 2012 included (1) continuing to provide interesting and informative articles to members of the KBA in our monthly publication, DICTA; (2) increasing member participation on the Committee; and (3) soliciting new content for DICTA. DICTA is now in its fifth year since being changed from a newsletter to a magazine format, and both its circulation and the scope of its content have continued to expand. The Committee itself consists of about a dozen members, who are all committed to continuing to improve the quality and content of the publication. Highlights over the course of the year included a series of articles in the "State of the Legal Profession" series that examined a number of important issues and recent developments impacting the local bar and the legal profession as a whole; timely pieces on a wide range of topics in DICTA's long-running "Practice Tips" column; informative reports on the pros, cons and effects of health care reform; a series detailing the KBA's Mentor for the Moment program; "Around the Bar" articles describing community service opportunities; a new "Exploring East Tennessee" series from members of the KBA's Government Lawyers Section; and a variety of articles paying tribute to veterans and military service members within the KBA and examining the historical impact of World War II on the Knoxville legal community.
